We are looking into using the Owle Bubo for our next commercial for Youtube in the fall. We will be releasing an app that requires us to be outdoors to create some, if not all, of the video content for the commercial. Our goal is to use an iPhone 4S to shoot the entire video then edit it on the iPad.
Now, why don’t we just use a standard HD Camera? Well, we want to minimize what we have to take overseas plus the pain of transferring the video. If we can use our iPhone then we can make this a whole lot simpler. Our goal is to pack lite and rent as much as we can when we get to the UK within budget.
Not only do we want to pack lite, but we are Apple fans all of the way. How cool would it be to not only design an app for iProducts (iPad, iPod, iPhone), but also create all of our advertising on all Apple products? We would love to be able to shoot our commercial on an iPhone, transfer it through an app, such as Photo Transfer, edit it on the iPad in iMovie and then upload to Youtube? We only work on Mac’s in the studio so it would be 100% Apple from start to finish.
Well this is our current goal. We are heavily researching this avenue to see if this makes fiscal sense as well as will it look professional enough to release as a commercial for the app. So far, it looks like we need to buy the following:
EnCinema & OWLE Bubo Combo Kit – $396.45 – $416.45
(price varies depending on the SLR lens you will be using with it)
Cannon or Nikon Converter ring – $ Cannot seem to find a converter ring for a Cannon anywhere online. Nikon can be bought with the OWLE for $20.00
Photo Transfer App – $2.99
(To transfer to the iPad for editing)
Photographic Lens / Either a Cannon or Nikon – $$$$ found a Cannon EF 50mm f/1.8 on Amazon for $119.00 with free shipping
We already have a Sony 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens but cannot find out for sure if it will work (even though the site does say it works with Sony lenses but is made for Cannon and Nikon) AND there is absolutely nothing coming up for a converter ring for it. The site sells the Nikon converter and says that the Cannon converter is easy to find as well, but we haven’t found that either.
As you can see, this is going to be pricey.
Some questions for you, does anyone know where to purchase the Cannon or Sony converters for the iPhone 4 for the OWLE Bubo?
Will the Sony lens work with the OWLE Bubo?
Any help from our readers would be fantastic. We have a few more days left before we leave and we really don’t want to purchase all of this to find out it is more work than it is worth. Any thoughts?
